Sliding a Portal in Preview Mode

Featured Replies

Is there a way to slid a portal in preview mode?

I have a portal 20 lines long, I have made a report that utlizes the portal, but some records do not need so many lines for the portal, so I am left with a very big white space on my reports. Is there a way to slide a portal up when the other feilds are being used?

Thank you,

Joseph

Not to my knowledge.

You'd better create your report in the related Table.

What would that do for me?

Can you explane?

I wish I could help, but am only here going to back-up your request - I have the same problem. I have contracts I am trying to create and originally had attempted repeating fields for the line-items on the forms, but was advised against that. I am now attempting to put together a join-table between my contract data table and my product table to include all the line-item information for the contract, and then will create a separate ContractPrint layout. I was thinking about including a portal into the join table from the print layout, but if portals can't be slid out of the way for printing, then I'm not sure how to proceed... someone with more experience than us - please help! Thanks!

Select the portal itself as well as the fields in the portal. Select them to allow Sliding. Make sure 'All above' is selected as well as 'also reduce the size of enclosing part'

I have done just that... but the portal still does not slide up when the fields are not being used...

Does this really work for portals?

Joseph

In my print layouts, I have large portals showing all the contacts to my companies. When I run a report, it prints only the contacts that I need and moves teh rest of the company information up. My portal is like 1300 pixels high. If it didnt slide, my reports would look really silly for those with only 2 company contacts.

Ok, So now I know that someone has seen this work... The questions is then how do you get it to slide up when there are only two contacts vs 10 on another entry.

I have tried to slected all in the portal plus the portal itself and told it to slide up, but this does not seem to work. Any ideas?

Joseph

A comment which may not be relevant.

I had problems like this, with a fairly simple printout - header, body with portal, footer - and it turned out to be the footer which sits solidly at the bottom of the page. I had the latter part of my printed page in the footer and of course it stayed at the bottom of the page. I moved all the data that I was happy to see slide up into the body part and had no further problem

Joseph and Mr. Vodka,

I believe we need to do the changes in the sliding printing option for the fields which are shown in the portal in order for the portal to slide up. Am I right?

Yes Sanjaj, you are correct. The fileds int eh portal must be have sliding attributes as well.
