custódio Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 (edited) Hello Again I Don´t know if it´s possible but... Can I make (if Yes, How?), the serial numbers return to " 0 ", in the beginning of every Year? (automatically, obviously) ex: 05-00001 05-00002 (...) 05-00789 05-00790 Happy New Year 06-00001 06-00002 06-00003 ..... Thanks....and sorry for another rookie question.... : Edited October 20, 2005 by Guest
Newbies Tim Bateman Posted October 20, 2005 Newbies Posted October 20, 2005 Try this. But, the Primary Key of a table should be JUST a number, with no other implied meaning in it. ie it should not indicate the year - use a creation date field for that job SerialNum.zip
-Queue- Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Here's a technique that only requires three fields and does not use Max, so it is somewhat faster for a larger file. Note that it may produce duplicates in a multi-user file, in which case you should script the creation of a new record and commit it immediately. PseudoSerial.zip
comment Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Not that I endorse such techniques, but if you're looking to minimise the resources needed for this... FauxSerial.fp7.zip
