Hi I have a field for an item UNIT_PRICE. It is set to numeric only. This field is defined in Items.fp5, when I try to enter 10.00 or 10,00 (depending on wich one is set as the decimal seprator in Control PanelRegional and Language Options) it throws an error saying it is decimal only. In fact, that is correct, but when I enter wheter 10.00 or 10,00 in the same field (UNIT_PRICE) of the same record, but on another page (Print.fp5), it accepts "." and ","... Ain't it suppose to throw the same error as in Item.fp5?? That is a detail, but I'd still like to know why...

I hope I'm making myself clear, and sorry for my english. Thank you!

P.S.;) I'm using FileMaker Dev 6

It may be that the first field has requires a validation in it and the other does not.

Check what the settings are for the field on the problematic layout; perhaps there's a field setting on that layout that's causing the problem.

the field setting are the same as in the first field since IT IS THE SAME! and now, the linked (from the relationship) field doesnt recognize the system decimal symbol... Why it aint working via a relationship? I cheked the relationship setting and there is nothing about this... Anyone!?

I also noticed that, on the original file, I entered 34,56 and the same field, displayed on antoher file, shows 34.56 ... The COMMA is replaced by a DOT

Anyone.... I'm pulling my hair!

Just to clarify here, two instances of the same field, even on the same layout, can have drastically different formatting. So there is nothing weird about being asked to check the settings between the two.

Whether a comma or period is the acceptable decimal separator also relies on what is selected for the 'file settings' option when one opens the file. So it is not odd that two files would display numeric data differently.

Perhaps you could attach stripped-down samples of your problem file(s) for review?
