djc728 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 (edited) I have 2 servers: Server A is a Mac G4 (OS 9, 512 RAM) running FMP Server 5.0 and Server B is a Mac G4 (OS 9, 768 RAM) INTRANET webserver running FMP 5 with the Web Companion Plug in. At least thats all I can see on both machines. General questions: (1) Can I assume that "Web Server Connector" will NOT run on OS 9. If it can how can I tell if it is in fact running on the webserver machine? I tried running http://IP address/Fmpro?config but got nothing so I'm assuming its not on the machine but I'm thinking its an OS issue since I'm assuming WSC will not run on OS9. (2) Is there a way to tell if FMP UNLIMITED is installed on my webserver machine? Again, if WSC is not on the machine then can I assume FMP UNLIMITED is not either. (3) Every so often the INTRANET webserver just stops serving pages -- but it doesn't happen very often and quite difficult to tell WHY its happening. There are only 25-30 people hitting the system. With the configuration described above can someone recommend a way to stablize the current system OR suggest where I could start looking to narrow down these crashes. (4) I guess what I'd like to ultimately know is given the OS 9 limitation -- might there be a better way to set up this intranet? We will be upgrading to version 8 in the not to distant future so this is a short term temporary fix. Thanks. DJC Edited December 29, 2005 by Guest
Garry Claridge Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Re: (3) Every so often the INTRANET webserver just stops serving pages -- I would make sure that you have the latest updates for that version. It has been many years since I used OS 9, so I'm stretching the memory a bit. At the top right-hand corner of the screen exists the "Application Menu", this list should tell you what is running. Good Luck. Garry
Garry Claridge Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 You can access the "Web Companion" directly with a URL; for example: http://localhost:591/FMPro?-dbnames This is assuming that the "Web Companion" plug-in is listening on port 591. You only use the "Web Server Connector" if you wish to redirect requests for the database via a web-server (e.g. Apache) to the WebCompanion. Garry
