jhomer Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Happy new year to all I am having a problem performing a find on a sales order number the number is made up of two alphas and some numberics ie R0612345H01 all our numbers begin with an alpha R and the letter where the H appears can differ. My search criteria Is *h however it will only find the result im looking for if the R is removed from the sales order number. is the * only looking at the first letter occurance? im at a loss as to how to go about this. any help would be great thanks
Raybaudi Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Hi your order number [color:red]isn't a number ! It must be a text field ! Althout you can see the alphas, those aren't effectively inside the field, if it is definited as number. So go to change the field definition from number to text (use a copy of your file) ;)
Raybaudi Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 If your field is already a text field, try this: [color:red]*h[color:red]* as search criteria
jhomer Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 ARG!!! thanks for the help. what a way to start out the new year....still clearing out the booze on the brain i guess.
