Tomo1 Posted January 17, 2002 Posted January 17, 2002 We have a main Databese with several import routines and relationships. What are the main dangers of doing this. The import routine is ran maybe 4 or 5 times per day and the relationships are a mixture or one to one and one to many. Obviously if a filename etc changes it would cause problems, but are there any problems if the Databse is used intensivley.
Kurt Knippel Posted January 17, 2002 Posted January 17, 2002 Nothing that I can think of with the "database" itself. You may want to consider running it in a RAM disk in order to save on wear on the harddrive. If your "import" procedure includes overwriting data and/or deletion of data you might also want to consider a periodic save as compressed, or save as clone. This will keep the file itself corruption free (or at least reduce the chances).
danjacoby Posted January 17, 2002 Posted January 17, 2002 The primary dangers are a bug in the programming of the import, and not being idiot-proof. Then again, those are the usual dangers, aren't they?
