swf Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 I have fm server (server 8) running on a separate machine and several client machines connecting with fm 8. I have several global fields used in a relationship to filter records. when I put the data in the global field it shows up in all the records and the relationship works great. Everytime I log off the database and reconnect the global field is blank and the relationship no longer works. any ideas?
Lee Smith Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 This question comes up all of the time. If you were to do a search of the Forum using [color:blue]+Global +Server, you would find that Global Fields become LOCAL in a served environment. You might want to review the recent topics in the Server Topic Area. Lee
Osman Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Global field can be set by openning file from directly filemaker. If you open database remote global fields are restore to back (as setted by oppening via filemaker) when closing.
