question on "Go to Related Record" script?

In my database, I have a button that uses the script "Go to Related Record"

And of course, if the file containing this button has a match with the related database file, it opens the related database file and goes to that record. But if there is not a match, it does not open the related database file.

Is there a way to accomplish both. In other words, I still want to use the "Go to Related Record" script, but even if there is not a match I still would like the script to open the other database.

PS Everytime I open my database using "hosts" from a remote machine in the office, it always prompts me that it cant find the related database, yet they are in the same folder on the same machine. Is there a way to fix this?

There may be a better way to accomplish this, but here goes.

Anytime I am navigating from one db to another I add a couple of script steps.

Assume you are going from db1 to db2. Write the following script in db1:

Go to Related Record["db2"]

Toggle Window[Minimize]

Perform Script[subscripts, External:"db2(*)"]

And the subscript you perform on db2 is:

Refresh Window[bring to Front]

These steps make sure db2 pops up, even if there are no related records.

Anytime you use goto related record or land on a layout with a related field / or portal the related database will open automatically, with out running any startup scripts.

The open command will invoke the startup scripts.

Create a constant field in both files

Constant is a calculation usually equal to 1

and is stored

Then create a relationship between the files using the constant fields.

Then in your script...

Gotorelated records using the constant relalationship.
