Ben Ball Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Can anyone help? I have a file that I wish to share through server8. The file I wish to share will not open once I have connected the the filemaker server. I have other files that I can share, but this one will not seem to open. I right click on the the file, press open but the file just reverts back to closed. The only thing I can think of is that this file has been converted from FM6. Does anyone know any settings that would cause this not to open? Maybe something that I need to do in order for the file to be shared? I can think of nothing, all settings are the same as any other file that I am sharing. But this particular file is the only one that has been converted to FM8.
Genx Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 maybe your over the max number of hosted files?
flook Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 A couple of things spring to mind and excuse me if they seem obvious: Have you checked to see if the the network sharing is turned on whilst in single use mode. Do you have consistency checker switched on in filemaker server 8, if the file is not valid the checker will stop you from opening the file. Try saving the file as a copy and compacted (smaller) this often fixes problems.
Wim Decorte Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 What does the event log say? Usually it will show some useful info.
Ben Ball Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 (edited) Hi, thanks for all your options there. Yes, the saving to a smaller compact file did work. Ben Edited February 21, 2006 by Guest
