March 16, 200619 yr Newbies I am a relatively experienced web designer and programmer. Have used php/mysql for many site. Have a client running Filemaker Server 5.5 on Mac os X. Would like to display the database on the web-site. Can this be done? If so how? Can someone help and possibly forward a page that shows how it is done? IS the ip address sufficient to create a connection??? Any help greatly appreciated.
March 16, 200619 yr With FMS 5.5 and the FileMaker 5/6 product line you can't connect to the server directly for the web. You need a separate machine with FileMaker Pro Unlimited on it and that machine will be the web host. Check out iViking.org (for fx.php) for some resource on web enabling FM with PHP.
March 17, 200619 yr You can run a client version of FM as the Web Server, this would remotely open files from the FM Server. It would use the WebCompanion plug-in to serve pages to the web. This method has a limitation of 10 unique IP address connections within a 12 hour period. The alternative, as Wim said, is to use FM Unlimited for this purpose. All the best. Garry
