ricardito Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I have a client ID value list I'm using in a global field for a relational filter, when the user chooses it I tell it to show the second item, the client name, however the (long) ID is shown in the field after they click out. Any ideas on how to capture the name and have it show in a field? Thanks.
Breezer Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 You can use a TO using the global field as your match (key) field, then set your field to show the value. NOTE: the field must be from this TO.
ThatOneGuy Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Hi Ricardito: Alternatively, that "first value" ID can be concealed if you format the field as a Pop-up Menu. The trade-off is that your users will have to use the mouse rather than being able to tab into the field ... at least it's an option. I also like Breezer's suggestion. Your global field becomes a "picker," and a second Table Occurrence pulls the Client's name. Just place a field from this "name" relationship layered directly (pretty much) over the ID picker field ... disallow entry into this "name" field. The upside here is that users can tab into the "picker" field. There are other ways still. Let us know.
