Import record problem

Featured Replies

I had a customer call me and I need help from Filemaker Gods (all of you). When she imports a certian single record it imports the wrong record. When she does the exact same thing on a different machine it worked fine. She tried it like 5 or 6 times and everytime it pulls the wrong record. What do you think?

Are you doing the same find from both machines before the import? Is the find performed froma script?

I asked the same question. She is doing a manual find, no scripts, and she is doing it the same on both machines.

Only thing that comes to mind would be that the find involves current date and the user is using the shortkey command, and the comp date is wrong.

Maybe performing the find on a local database to that machine and not the hosted file?

When you find out let me know I'm curious. ;)

Ok I went to the customer sight the other day and here is what I found.

Both Machines running xp pro and filemaker 6 there is only 4 users so they don't have filemaker server. (don't remember the vesion but they matched).

Did the import on both machines one pulled in the correct record the other did. It always pulled in the same record every time no matter how what record I had narrowed it down to.

Here is how I fixed it but I don't know why it worked, so if you all know I would love to be able to pass that on.

Just did a simple recover and put it back on the server. All worked great after that.

What do you all think?

By chance is there more than one copy of the file on the computer?

I verified that both computers were access the exact same file.

Thanks

Thom

That really wasn't what I asked. I asked if there were more than one copy of the files on the machines. Do a search and see if the File Name comes up more than once.
