anna f Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I am using FMP 8 Adv. to work on a file hosted by FMSA7 on a Windows platform. I have run many DDRs for this file but recently it has been hanging up before completion. My only option to to end task as FM becomes unresponsive. I have tried it with Dev 7- same thing. I have tried it from other computers- same thing. Any suggestions?
Wim Decorte Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Worst case: your "end task" has induced file or data corruption in the file. You should always go back to a backup after "force quitting" like this. Other than that: have you tried running the DDR one option at a time to figure out where the problem could be? (In the fields, layouts, scripts,...). Do you have access to a Mac to try it on? People have been reporting that sometimes it fails on one platform but works on the other.
anna f Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 Thank you- although I do not have access to a Mac, I did run the report one section at a time and found out the hang up is when running layouts. I only have 204 which I do not think is too big. If there are no known bugs with this, I will continue to try different things. Again, thanks for the reply.
Wim Decorte Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 I would suggest taking a backup copy of the file and working with the layouts: - delete half of the layout and run the DDR, see if the problem occurs. If not - go back to the original backup and delete the other half, run the DDR Once you have the half of layouts where the problem occurs, do the same logic again (deleting half) until you've narrowed it down to the layout where the problem happens. You probably have a corrupted graphic on that layout. Delete half of the items on it and repeat the process until you know which one...
