Hello!

I´m doing a Music (cd) Catalog and i would like to know how can i see the album tracks in a list.

I would search for an album and then i would like to see the tracks that are related to that album...

I have something like the previous post Dj catalog.

Probably the simplest way is to create a self relation with "Album Name", then you can use a portal to view all of the tracks on that album.

what do you mean with "self relation"?

I have a album table with albumID that is related to Tracks Table (Album ID). If i do a search for an album i see that perticular album, but only one track, to see another track i have to go to another record and the same with the other tracks that are related to that album..

I would like to have all the tracks records tha are related to that album.

Maybe its not only a problem with the relation, i don´t know...

It strikes me that what you want is what is known as a portal. This is a 'window' that allows one to see all the related records.

First read the help files on how to create a portal.

Create your portal on the layout where you are choosing your album and set it to show records from the table occurence that represents the relationship between album and tracks.

Then place the fields that you wish to see from the tracks table into the first line of the portal (not forgetting to change the heading at the top of the fields window to that of the relationship)

You can set your portal to show as many or as few related records as you like by setting the number of rows to show. You can then nominate that the portal has scroll bars so that if there are more tracks than rows you will be able to scroll them.

But now i have another problem...

I would like to search an artist or an album or a track.

If i search a track i would like to see all the album that have that track and the related artists.

I´m talking about a jazz catalog

If i search for an especific album i would like to see it´s tracks and it´s artist.

Or if i search for an artist i would like to see all his albums.

Is it possible to have a layout to seach all this???
