Gaz 007 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I have a field called accom and it has 2 options in a drop-down menu hotel or b & b is it possible to have a new record created in a table called b & b when b & b is selected and in the hotel table when hotel is selcted?
Inky Phil Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Hi gaz Forgive me for not answering your question directly but I notice that this is your first post and your question leads me to believe that you might be coming at this from the wrong direction. Rather than have a seperate table for B&B and Hotel you might want to consider having one table (Establishments??) and a field within that table (type?) where you store the B&B or Hotel info. Depending on your purpose this would probably make searching and reporting easier as you will only have to gather info from the one place. Forgive me if I am barking up completely the wrong tree. To get back to your original question yes it can be done either using a button on your layout or an event script plugin HTH phil
Gaz 007 Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 i had similar system with one table which i have outlined below, on the top of the layout the persons name, ref num, arrival, dep date are pulled in from another table and then there was two tabs one for b and b and one for hotel, however if someone had booked for b & b and then decided they wanted hotel all info from b & b would have to be deleted and then the hotel info filled in for our reports to work. The big thing is we don't want anyone to be able to delete. So in this system it dosen't matter if the old information is still in the b & b fields becuase the reports check the drop down and gets and if b & b gets b & b info etc. ther eis probably a better way any ideas?
