Saucepan Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 hi i was just thinking. i have created a script that sends emails to all my contacts with the lastest news on my front. it does so by looping through all my contacts, send a new mail for every new contact. now, if the power goes out in the middle of me running this scrip, what would happend when i restart filemaker? would i have to rerun the entire script or would it continue wherever it got aborted? i wouldnt like to send the same mail twice, or rather i dont want my contacts recieving the same mail twice... thanks
Genx Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 It definitley wouldnt continue where it left off, you could just mark as "sent" and when the script completes clear all the "sent" fields.
Saucepan Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 yeah, thought about that too, the problem is that im gonna be using diffrent levels of follow-up scripts, and i really dont want it to drop a level... i know that its faroff, powerouts arent really thet frequent, but still...

Ocean West Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 create a log table and create a record in there for each step that was successful. If something goes sideways you can always review the log.
