August 7, 200619 yr I am not sure whether this is the best subject to ask my question? A user just asked me why it is possible to use the zoom controls in 25% steps when zooming out, and only 50% steps when zooming in. I had no idea but I know it is not possible. Now, customised zooming would definitely be on my list of future features, but in the meantime: is there any tool out there, a plug-in of some kind, that could help me with that?
August 7, 200619 yr Actually, that's not true. The zoom levels are as follows: 25 50 75 100 150 200 300 400 See the pattern? There isn't one. Below 100% - zoom is 25% increments Above 100% - zoom is 50% increments until Above 200% - zoom is 100% increments. Zooming is a nice feature, but plays havoc with text, especially 100/150% as the don't scale correctly. Edited August 7, 200619 yr by Guest
August 7, 200619 yr Author The question is not: what does it do now, and is there a pattern or not. The question is: would there be a way to let users decide which percentage they want to have to fit their needs. I have personally always detested the weird behaviour of Filemaker where text is concerned and I know for a fact that the text-engine still has not changed much. Which is not to say that we have to accept that. I bet I am not the only one requesting this feature.
October 13, 200619 yr Newbies hmmm so i was searching for a way that we could could control the percentage that we zoom to view and your posting leads me to believe that at this point we are stuck with their preset percentages. It would be so great if we could simply enter in the desired # because 100 is too small and 150 is too large for what we are wanting. Has anyone found a way to do this?
October 28, 200619 yr realise that this has little bearing for users but for editing layouts i love the new zoom feature in mac os x 10.4.8 ...when i hold control and put 2 fingers on the trackpad i can zoom in and out to my hearts content which i find more useful than 400% in Filemaker layout mode. (apple/system prefs/mouse/...) to enable
