Stuart Taylor Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) I have just downloaded 8.5 to play with web views ... plugged my laptop into my new 20 inch cinema display .... tried dragging a fresh new template from my laptop to my cinema display to find that it bounced right back to the laptop.... All previous versions allows this. So must be a bug. This is a nightmare for my clients who work on laptops and cinema as well as me as i bought the thing recently to have more desktop space to develop my FileMaker Solutions... Anyone else had this!!! LaRetta Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I'm unsure but possibly you have disallowed drag and drop in Edit > Preferences > General? It may have nothing to do with it but it's worth a check. :wink2:
Stuart Taylor Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) Hi LaRetta, Thanks for your response. I have posted a quick mov file to illustrate (its a bit jerky) Window 1 is the FileMaker template "Inventory" being dragged and dropped onto the cinema display then moved around and dropped in several places. This window is running in 8v3 Window 2 is the same FileMaker template "Inventory" being dragged and dropped onto the cinema display but when it is dropped anywhere it snaps back to the laptop monitor. This window is running in 8.5 Bug, Bug, Bug!!! I hope they didnt change this because of Get(WindowHeight) flaws. This could really screw me if not resolved. Tell me what you think. Stuart Taylor Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 I have submitted the bug and this post to FileMaker (US) and await their response. It would be great if anyone else with a cinema/laptop setup or any multi display setup could test 8.5 and post the results... :
IanC Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Stuart I've got the same set up. The problem only occurs if: 1. Running 8.5 and not 8.0.3 2. Your dock and menu are on the laptop (I have my dock and menu on the cinema display) 3. The cinema display is arranged on the RIGHT rather than the LEFT Hope this stops you thinking you are going mad! Also - if you have the dock and menu on the Cinema Display, you cannot make a window width bigger than that of the laptop display, until you move the window to span both displays, then you can adjust it to be as big as you want. Tiger 10.4.7, Powerbook 12", 20" cinema, display 8.5 advanced

Stuart Taylor Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 (edited) Hurray ... Totally missed the fact until today that you can move the white Menubar rectangle to the other window ... now i really do have a 20" screen : and no problems at all. Life changing best Stuart Edited September 12, 2006 by Guest
