Irenem Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I'm working on a MacBook with intel processor and Filemaker 8.5 Advanced. I have a script that beguines with "If[ Get(Systemplatform)= -1 ...... etc. If I start mij FileMaker 8.5 via Rosetta it is working just fine but if I use it native it doesn't recognize the system. Is there an explanation?
comment Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 FileMaker Pro 8.5 Read Me: 3.4. The Get(SystemPlatform) function now returns 1 for Intel-based Macs and -1 for PowerPC-based Macs (and returns -2 for Windows systems).
Irenem Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 Thanks, it would be usefull if Filemaker would write those instructions in their help files. Thank God we have a forum!
Lee Smith Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) I'm not in my office, so I don't have v8.5 with me. I'm curious, what it shows in the Online Help for [color:blue]Get(SystemPlatform) function? In v8, it describes what should be return, didn't they change it in 8.5. Irenem Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Lee, this is the description of the help-file of 8.5 "Description Returns a number indicating the current platform: -1 if the current platform is Mac OS X -2 if the platform is Windows 2000 or Windows XP Note See Solving calculations on a host machine for information about running scripts in client/server and peer-to-peer environments. Examples" I guess they forgot somthing. Irene
Newbies jctull Posted January 5, 2007 Newbies Posted January 5, 2007 Nearly 5 months later and it is still undocumented. Nothing like rapid response.
D-fendr Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Thank God we have a forum! Amen to that. I just had the same problem with a new install this morning. Was thoroughly flummoxed. Amen and amen.
