Best way to auto-import from files with changing names?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm trying to solve a problem in one of my solutions. I need to import records daily form a .txt file. The file will always reside in the same folder, but since a new file is added each day, the name of today's file differs from that of yesterday's file. So far, I've been unable to create a script that will import the without looking for the file imported the first time I set up the script. I've considered having the user drag the .txt file into a container field and then import the contained data file, but that hasn't worked either. (I've posted a similar question in the Containers forum).

What is my best way to accomplish this?

Thank you for your help.

(I've posted a similar question in the Containers forum).

And I have posted a reply to it 20 minutes before you posted this. Please do not double post.

It really isn't a double-post. It is two different questions, posing each in the forum to which they are best categorized. Thanks for your post in the other forum.

Hi Mac,

It's as close to a double-post as you can get. It isn't required here on FM Forums - your post will be viewed by everyone anyway. It is highly discouraged (by everyone) because it can waste time and resources So just find the most appropriate forum and post there, okay? We all do our best to read (and answer every post) and, in most cases, it's within the same day!

And welcome to FM Forums :wink2:
