September 18, 200619 yr Hi, I've many field by records, but only 3-4 of them are real data inputed by the user, the other field are here for GUI display etc. Those non user filed must be updated with replace steps cripts, imports etc. I've set a modifcation date auto enter filed, but unfortunately it gets updated during maintenance script execution, thus erasing the real user modification date. I need to track user modification of those few user field only, and the creation of the record by user. How should I track the modifiaction date (and creation date) of the records by the user only, and NOT resulting from script execution. The best way would be to prevent scripts to change the modification date. Thanks for your help. P.S I now about the self relationship trick, but I fear the scriptst will trigger it also, and I'm unsure it won't miss just created records.
September 18, 200619 yr Have you looked at the Audit or Field Modification Tracking samples that have been referred to several times over the years. Start with Here and the word Audit. HTH Lee
