shellas Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I am not sure if I've posted on the right forum but I hope someone can help me here. Basically I am trying to set some kind of tag within each record so that the correct price can be picked out based on what quantity the customer gets. Record 1 Description Field: Doll Price Field1: 1.00 Price Field1 unit of measure: EA Price Field2: 10.00 Price Field2 unit of measure: DZ (For this product 'doll', if the customer buys 1 the cost is 1.00, but if the customer buys a dozen the cost is 10.00) Record 2 Description Field: Volleyball Price Field1: 25.00 Price Field1 unit of measure: EA Price Field2: 140.00 Price Field2 unit of measure: 6 (PCS) (For 'volleyball' if only one is purchased the cost is 25.00, but if 6 is purchased, the price would be 140.00 for all 6) I know there is a way to do this but I can't seem to get it. Any help is appreciated.
John Mark Osborne Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 The answer to your question depends on the design of your solution. Do you have a join table, are using lookups, what are your key fields, etc. It's hard to answer your question without background information regarding your structure. On top of that, there are many ways to approach the task with no clear-cut winner. There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach. The easiest solution might be to post your solution as an attachment. That way, most of these questions would be answered for you.
shellas Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 Mr. Osborne: I made up some fictitious examples as I thought a 'simple' question would more likely be answered than a 'complex' one. I will attach my file later today. Thank you.
shellas Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 I am not able to attach my files here, since even after altering the size of the files they still have about 36mb, and I am only allowed to upload 1.05mb here. I'll see if I can reduce the size of the files further.
Lee Smith Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 How about a copy of the file with no records, or a few to be sure we can see what you are asking. Lee
shellas Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 (edited) Hi, I am sorry for the delay but I was called away from my desk last week. Here is the attachment with sample files. I'd really appreciate whatever help you can provide. Thanks! Invoice_Test.zip Edited November 7, 2006 by Guest
shellas Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Hi, I've been able to come up with a partial "solution" for picking out the prices within records, and have altered my files a bit. I am still trying to make it more intuitive though. I will post my files here later on today.
shellas Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Hi, Attached are my files. Please take a look at the changes. I basically wanted the correct price to be pulled up from the price list file based on the quantity ordered, but I have not been able to get that done yet. Please take a look and let me know your suggestions, ideas, solution. Thank you for your time. Invoice_Test.zip
