Add a portal record but not on the blank new record

Hi,

I'm trying to do a trick that was suggested by Helpful Harry back in 2004.

The idea is to add a new record to a portal but not on the last blank line. Helpful Harry had found a way of using two portals based on the same related file, where one portal would show all records and the other portal would show only new records.

He said that here were no buttons or scripts.

He said that he had posted an article some place but I can't find it.

Any help appreciated.

Bobbby

(P.S. I posted this about an hour ago, but can't see it anywhere on the board yet. So this is the second post. Please excuse me if I'm repeating myself.)

Hi Bobby, and Welcome to the Forum.

I just checked, and this is the Only post for you, so apparently something went wrong with your other post.

It would be helpful know what file, or thread you are referring to. Are you referring to the one he posted to the Sample Files called "[color:blue]Data entry into the top row of a portal"?

Sounds like it could be that.

In fact that's what I'm trying to do.

Helpful Harry's post was on another forum way back in 2004. He gave a cluse to what he had done, but no details. he posted a link for the details but that went to an error page.

So I came here.

Hi Folks,

Finally found it !

here is the link to the discussion :P

http://groups.google.fr/group/comp.databases.filemaker/browse_thread/thread/e0f08eee3a323ea6/f761d851e9deed79%23f761d851e9deed79

Near the end, Helpful Harry says he has posted an article that goes to a MakeAShorter link page which then leads to an error page.

So where is Harry's Harticle ?

I'm hopping homeward as it's getting dark already here on the paris side of the globe. I'll check back tomorrow for news. Thanks,

Bobbby
