May 16, 200124 yr Newbies Each time I try to click "connect to server" after keying in the IP address in the Filemaker connection assistant, the system crashes. Does any one has the same problem or know how to resolve it?
May 17, 200124 yr I believe there is a patch for FMP5 web companion that fixes this. It's at http://www.filemaker.com/
May 17, 200124 yr Author Newbies Thank you for your reply, Vaughan. Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate the patch for Filemaker Pro5 web companion to fix this. How else can I go a about fixing the problem? Do you suspect the problem could be due to Mac OS X, should I go back to Mac OS 9.1?
May 17, 200124 yr Before you go back to 9.1, i've had the same TYPE (not exactly the same) of problems on 9.0. I'd look again for the patch (if it indeed exsists) and try some other stuff. Again, my problem wasn't crashing when clicking "Connect to server" my problem was with clicking "This Server", then it would crash. So i just worked around that by manually typing the IP address in. May 18, 200124 yr Author Newbies I did try manually typing the IP address in before. But it still crashes not when I click "This Server" but when I click "Connect to server". sigh.. can't seem to go beyond this stage - how to carry on??? Also not sure if the patch is the updater FM web companion v5.06 cos even when I downloaded it and not sure if I did correctly, when I clicked it, error message "there is no application available to open the document "web companion". Help!
May 18, 200124 yr Bottom Line: Do what you got to do to get the job done. If that means backing up everything and reinstalling FM and Claris, do it. Returning to OS 9, do it. Learning to create the pages WITHOUT the assistant, do it. Hopefully you have a little time to find some more answers, but HP at least has a "FileMaker Form Library" under the Window Menu which can help quite a bit. Take a look. It shows all the CDML syntax for the required tags and field viewing, divided by page (new, search, etc.). There's another library right under that which includes alot of the other tags (only through the 4.0 tags, i.e- no inline action) Jeremy
