November 27, 200619 yr I want to create a database for my contacts. I would like to ad a button to it where the computer would dial the telephone number (tone) over the computer speaker. If I hold my phone in front of it it will dial out. Is this possible in version 6? Alternatively does anybody know of a free template address book (v6) that I could use? Thanks
November 27, 200619 yr Author Thanks looks good, and not sure if I get it to work with FM. Will experiment tomorrow. Also I would prefer a integrated solution so I just have to punch a button in FM. Thanks for the tip anyway.
November 27, 200619 yr Filemaker can do what you want without any 3rd party additions. Look up the Dial Phone script step in the help. --- Note: You do need a scripting addition if you want Filemaker to dial the phone via modem in OS X.
November 27, 200619 yr And then look up the functions that don't work on the Mac - like phone dialing. That's been the case since the release of OSX. Doesn't make sense to me but that's the way it is. Edited November 27, 200619 yr by Guest
November 28, 200619 yr Author Filemaker can do what you want without any 3rd party additions. Look up the Dial Phone script step in the help. I looked at help before, and it says: > Note The Dial Phone script step is not supported in Mac OS X. So this is why I asked the question here You do need a scripting addition if you want Filemaker to dial the phone via modem in OS X.
November 28, 200619 yr Author I believe SPEAKER dialing with version 6 should still work? I hope so, Anyone any tips? Thanks

November 28, 200619 yr Speaker dialing sorta worked for me with version 4 - but that was in Classic. I never used version 6, and it looks like my assumption that it would behave similarly was wrong. Perhaps you could work something out with one of these: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20041015110534758 http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/119717/
March 4, 200718 yr Newbies I dial the phone from FmPro 8 on my Mac using JPT (Jon's Phone tool v2.3.1) and Quickeys v3.1. Sound complicated but it works fantastically. I use it every day to dial all my calls. My G4 Powerbook has a built in modem which is attached to the wall telephone jack via a Y-splitter. It just works. I have assigned the F12 key to dial the phone. To dial a number in FmPro this is what I do: 1. Highlight the telephone # in a field in FmPro. (just select the telephone number field) 2. Hit F12 3. Pick up the phone (to get dial tone) 4. The phone starts dialing automatically. 5. Talk If you are interested I can send a jpeg or pdf of the settings in Quickeys and JPT Since this is my first entry on FM Forums I do not know how to attach the files to this note. I can e-mail them to you or someone can explain how I can attach files to FMF. Greg
