working.account Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I was wondering if there is a way to search for similiar feilds in the find mode. i.e. The real name of the record is "stop and shop" but I wanna search for just "shop". Thanks in advance
mr_vodka Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I am confused. Are you trying to find words that are similar or searching for only one word in a field? Your post states that you are searching for a similar word, but your example seems to ask for something else? Am I missing something?
working.account Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 I am trying to search for a similiar word to the exact word in the feild. For example, if I am trying to find the category "Salt and Pepper" but I only know "Salt is in the category so I only search for the word "salt". Thanks again.
comment Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 The default search is for WORDS that start with the search phrase. Searching for "salt" will find "Salt and Pepper", "Pepper and Salt", "Crackers and Saltines"... but NOT "Unsalted".
Ender Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 You've said the same thing without clarifying. If you want to search for records containing "salt", search for "salt". Results will include "Salt", "salty", and "Sea salt". This is not the same as searching for 'similar' words like "silt" or "malt". This type of search is generally harder, depending on the parameters.
