January 7, 200719 yr I want to be able to put text on a layout, and when I run my mouse over it (without holding it down) I want a little window to pop up with text info that I have entered. Like a balloon window with directory information. I don't know if this is possible in Filemaker but if it is, I want to do it. Can someone help me? If I haven't explained what I want well enough, please email me and I will try to be more explicit.
January 7, 200719 yr Hmmm maybe ... truth is since 6 i've only used developer/advanced so i'm not sure.
January 7, 200719 yr Your right FileMaker Advanced only... Help says: About tooltips on layouts: You can use FileMaker Pro Advanced to add tooltips to layout objects. Tooltips appear as small yellow boxes when a user hovers the cursor over an object in Browse or Find modes. Tooltips can be static text or the results of a calculation. Tooltips display in FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Pro Advanced, runtime database solutions, and databases published to the web with Instant Web Publishing. You must use FileMaker Pro Advanced to add, edit, or delete tooltips. Tooltips are fully documented in the FileMaker Pro Advanced Development Guide included with FileMaker Pro Advanced.
January 8, 200719 yr That's a good question. AFAIK, their promotional upgrades ended in December. However, maybe FileMaker Sales can provide you with a cheap upgrade path. Lee
January 8, 200719 yr I paid about the same to upgrade as i did for the FileMaker Pro license.... but i upgraded from 7 developer during a promotional period, so it may or may not be cheaper.
January 10, 200719 yr If a Tool Tip is added to an object using the Advanced version will the Tool Tip stay assigned to the object if it's copied from one file to another? Cheers Pedro -) Edited January 10, 200719 yr by Guest
January 10, 200719 yr The answer is yes Advanced is a Developer Version, it's like custom functions, once it's in, it's in.
