akfruit Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 When I create a new company in my database I want Filemaker to automatically add the word LIMITED to the end of the field. e.g. I type in Wallwen then Filemaker adds in LIMITED.So the full field shows WALLWEN LIMITED.
mr_vodka Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 You can use an auto entry with calculated value of companyname & " LIMITED", uncheck 'Do not replace existing value'
Lee Smith Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) Do you only do business with Limited companies? Since you are using v8, you can do this with an Auto Enter Calculation on the field. Go into Define Fields, Select the Field, Hit the Options Button, Click the Specify "Calculated Value" paste this into the box [color:blue]Name & " LIMITED" (note the [color:blue]Name is my field, you need to change this to the your Field Name that you are using). Click Okay, then [color:red]Deselect the Checkbox [color:red]"Do not replace existing value in field (if any)", click Okay HTH Lee Edited January 8, 2007 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 You are welcome. [color:orange]mr_vodka had also supplied the answer, which he posted while I was composing. I would have normally deleted my post as a duplicate answer, but left it this time, because I had included the steps since were new to FileMaker. Lee
