Executing URL through Instant Web Publisching (5.5v3) based on calculated field leads to wrong result (record).

I want to create a dynamic Navigation to different Layouts and other dynamic funktions like "mailto" within Instant Web Publishing.

I have reported that problem to FM but they don't response - as usualy! mad.gif" border="0

When FM fixes this problem, Instant Web Publishing is realy usefull at leased for prototyping because you can create dynamic navigation. The standard navigation from Instant Web Publishing is too limited, I have swiched it off!

Here is the description of the Problem:

This is the calculation of the URL-field:

WebSicherheit::WebServer & "/FMRes/FMPJS?-db=bff-immobilien&-layid=" & ExposeLayid & "&-format=formvwcss.htm&-max=1&-token.0=25&-token.1=26" & "&-mode=browse&-recid=" & recid & "&-op=bw&-lop=and&-find"

this is the result:

http://192.168. 1.10/FMRes/FMPJS?-db=bff-immobilien&-layid=27&-format=formvwcss.htm&-max=1&-token.0=25&-token.1=26&-mode=browse&-recid=106&-op=bw&-lop=and&-find

executing this URL through a button on a layout served by Instand Web publishing this link is created:

http://192.168.1.1 0/FMRes/FMPJS?-db=bff-immobilien&-layid=&-format=formvwcss.htm&-max=1&-token.0=25&-token.1=26&-mode=browse&-recid=33&-op=bw&-lop=and&-find

the layout-id is missing and the record id is wrong! Performing this URL whithin FileMaker it self workes fine!

I experianced that there is a general problem, when URLs calculated with data from records and than processed through Instant Web Publishing.

There is probably not single expert on Instant Publishing. All Experts are using Custom publishing cool.gif" border="0

You are using Instant Web Publishing. You write, "I want to create a dynamic Navigation to different Layouts and other dynamic funktions like "mailto" within Instant Web Publishing. I have reported that problem to FM..."

And I am sure the folks there had a good laugh. Perhaps if you read the documentation which comes with FileMaker you would understand that IWP is a wysiwyg application. The problem is not with FileMaker.

To satisfy your dynamic needs FileMaker has generously provided you with the opportunity to learn html and cdml or (wow, choices, isn't America wonderful)html and Lasso. That way you can create your own web pages and control the dynamics.

If you don't want to take on a learning curve (or two or three) you can always farm out the project to one of the contributors to this board. I charge substantially for my limited talents.

SIMPLIFY ...

Thank you very much Keith... Your statements are very helpful!

By the way I have read the documentation from FileMaker, especially how to switch off standard navigation within IWP and why this function was implemented! Have you read this?

What I also find vary interesting is that they have documented that URL can be based on calculated fields! Have you read this as well?

Just for your information: this project will be realized with ASP! I am just prototyping as I have mentioned!

Once again thank you

Stephan
