February 6, 200718 yr This is embarrassing, but somehow the password that we had recorded as the Admin Server Password is not working. We are not able to log onto the Admin Server anymore. Is there anyway around this problem? Believe it or not we keep our passwords in a filemake database, but it appears somebody didn't update the database.
February 7, 200718 yr You have to delete a registry key to reset this. [color:red]But I am going to tell you that if you do not know what you're doing in the Registry to forget about deleting the key and just remove and then reinstall FileMaker Server instead. You run far less chance of really trashing your computer doing it that way. Steven
February 7, 200718 yr Well it's not that hard Steven... they just run regedit and search for the key name and hit delete, lol, unless they get curious and start deleting random keys! I did that once when i was young, twas fun : .
February 7, 200718 yr Lol, i'm sorry, my definition of young is 11 or 12 http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/59100.html --sd
February 7, 200718 yr OK fellows, now fun is fun, but before "mucking about" in the Registry, a person really ought to know what can happen very quickly if he or she deletes the wrong item. For the record, it's the AdminAuth key, but do be careful. Steven
February 10, 200718 yr So, how do you do it on a Macintosh? Oh, my. Well, I will tell you that it supposedly can be done. I have never done it, but it requires running the Terminal to change ownership on the plist, editing the plist and saving it, then changing ownership back with the Terminal. IOW, I wouldn't do it. I'd just reinstall the thing. Probably take less time. BTW--all this discussion--both platforms--is distinct from resetting the passwords for the Web Publishing Engine. That's a tad bit easier.
