Can you add a normal table to a layout?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone - I'm busy transfering an order system onto filemaker from excel. I need to add a table (not in the FM sense of the word - a regular table as you would insert in word or use in excel) to my layout. Is this possible?

thanks!! :)

p.s. - i mean with rows and columns :)-)

Hey There,

It's a bit unclear as to what you want. Do you want the layout to LOOK like an excel table? If so, choose "View as Table" from the View menu. You can make layout adjustments after that by selecting "Layout Setup" from the Layouts Menu and choosing the "Views" tab.

I hope that helps. If not, let me know and I'll be glad to try and help :)

thanks - but i want the layout to look like a form, but it needs a table within it. It won't really be ideal to have the whole thing as a table.

If i was in word, i would have a blank document and then insert a table with a few rows and columns - i need to do the equivalent of that. :)

The only thing I can think of, is having a Form view with a portal in it.

A portal has rows and you can add whatever fields (columns) that you want to it. This is done through relationships.
