agedpom Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I am using 8.5 Advanced on an Intel IMac. Closing the program is a bother. If, when I select "Quit FileMaker Pro Advanced" or the Apple Menu "Shut Down" the program takes about 75 or more seconds to do this or just freezez nd I have to invoke the "Force Quit Applications" command. I generally have about 8 or 9 files open hidden all the time. Why does this happen?
Stuart Taylor Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Actually my version of FMPA8.5 does this too, but i quit maybe every 2 months or so ... so i am not a good test case.
Stuart Taylor Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Its funny because its true... OSX ...and no im not a fanboy its just true. I kill one laptop every 14 months because i never turn it off. :
RT Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 mine sometimes does this, as a work around if you create a new script and tell it to exit application it should shutdown immediately try this and get back to us if it works for you.
Stuart Taylor Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 These seems to be an issue ... here is a poll for [color:red]FMSA 8.5 users on OSX only
Genx Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 ... I'm Confused, do you mean FM Server Advanced or FM Advanced?
Stuart Taylor Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 You right I mean FileMaker Advanced FMA FMPA (FileMaker Pro Advanced) is wrong i suppose.
agedpom Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Created a new file with a script "exit application". No change. Or did you mean create a script in another appplication such as applescript or apple events?
agedpom Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 I think I have solved the problem. I turned off all three types of sharing; FileMaker network, Instant web publishing and ODBC/JDBC. and "BINGO" closed in a jiff!! I'll let you all know if the problem really has gone away.
agedpom Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Further research shows that it is the Instant Web Publishing option under the FileMaker - Sharing menu item which causes the problem. So be careful out there
