caseyuptobat Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I am hoping this is simple for someone. In my insurance company database we have the birthdate of the client, but I would like their age to pop up in another field once their BDate is inputed- any takers?
Raybaudi Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Hi try this calc ( UNSTORED ) Year ( Get ( CurrentDate ) ) - Year ( DOB ) - ( Get ( CurrentDate ) < Date ( Month ( DOB ) ; Day ( DOB ) ; Year ( Get ( CurrentDate ) ) ) )
caseyuptobat Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Awesome. Worked like a charm. Thank you.
Newbies Lovey Posted April 13, 2007 Newbies Posted April 13, 2007 I used this as well, and found that it worked great for new records but will not look at my old records and change those, unless I actually enter the field and make some change. Am I missing something in this that will auto update? Thanks!
mr_vodka Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Do you have the calc unstored as Daniele had posted?
Newbies Lovey Posted April 19, 2007 Newbies Posted April 19, 2007 I didn't change any of the settings to "store" anything, so doesn't that make it "unstored?"
Lee Smith Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 NO. There is an Option to Turn Off Storage, otherwise, FileMaker will store the calculation when needed. HTH Lee
Newbies Lovey Posted April 19, 2007 Newbies Posted April 19, 2007 Ugh, it's been a long hard week with a database that is not being cooperative. I had forgotten to change my field from "text" to calculation. Sigh...stupid mistake #142 of the day (or so it seems). Thanks for your help!
caseyuptobat Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 When making the calculation make sure you go into storage options to make sure that the "Do not store calculation results" is unchecked. After that you should be fine. Jason
