ExpressVP Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Having a little problem here... I'm on a network here in my office. There are 2 computers. One was running FM Pro 8.5 Advanced, the other was running FM 8.5 Demo. They were both working fine, hosting with one, and remotely opening it with the other one. This is on a LAN. So, the demo recently ran out of time, so I installed the FM Pro 8.5 Advanced on that computer as well. But now when I try to connect while one is hosting I get an error message "File could not be opened. The hosts capacity was exceeded, try again later." Can anyone help me? Everything was the same, except I replaced the demo on one computer with the full version...now it doesn't want to connect to the other computer anymore? Thanks...
IdealData Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 You only have one licence - so only one will operate at the same time.
Genx Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Im not sure that's the issue -- A license key conflict would normally result in an error saying "License key conflict with user blah blah, this application will now exit" as opposed to host capacity exceeded...
Ender Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Okay smarty pants, then what is the problem? :blah:
Genx Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Lol, i didn't claim to know what the problem was just suggested what it probably isn't... so blah blah you Anyway, i can't think or read very quickly in my current brain dead state so here's some links: http://www.nabble.com/Sharing-t3559549.html http://filemakertoday.com/com/showthread.php?p=50965 http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/182219
Stuart Taylor Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I have just got off the phone with someone who had the same error. There was not Licence conflict and they where within the host capacity. When i looked at the Log file in FM server (V 5.5) the end of the log was blank. The issue is was not a problem with filemaker server itself. The issue was that the server machine was almost full.
ExpressVP Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 Does each have a unique license code? License code meaning, serial number? I actually used the same cd/serial for both computers. Could that be the reason?
Stuart Taylor Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Thats your problem... Each computer needs a unique serial/licence
Genx Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Okay well then yes, that's definitley your issue -- the error messages seem quite useless really.
