Mats Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I have some text formated Diplomas in MS Word and and now I want to import them in Filemaker in order to use my Student database to print the Diplomas. Is there a way to import the Diploma as it is formated in Filemaker? I have looked around in the guide but did not find any answer there.
Vaughan Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Copy and paste the text from Word onto a layout in FileMaker?
Mats Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 The formating of the text will not stay, such as centered, tabs etc. That was my question.
Vaughan Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Hmmm, I just tested pasting from Word to FMPA 8.5 and you're right -- all paragraph formatting is lost. Sadly, I repeated the test with FMD 6.0v4 and the formatting is retained. Would somebody else like to test with FMP 8.0? Or on the Windows platform?
mr_vodka Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Try using 'Paste Special' from the 'Edit' Menu. Then an option for Microsoft Office Word Document appears. Select that and it should paste with the formatting.
Mats Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Hmm, In FM Pro 8.5 Advanced there is no "Paste Special" only the "Patse" under the Edit menu ???
Mats Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Argh! Windows have but not Mac, BAD of FM, but maybe they have another solution for Mac then?
comment Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I am not sure it's FMI's fault (this time) - OLE technology belongs to Microsoft and is not supported by Mac OS X. How long can it take to format a decent diploma layout in Filemaker?
Mats Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Maybe you have a point there. I takes time as it is an evaluation and graduation to. Also one is in Swedish and one in English. But paste special should just be for different OLE or??
comment Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I really don't know that much about it. I don't even have MS Office installed. Perhaps you can learn more starting from http://www.filemaker.com/help/16-OLE18.html
