Newbies ChristianLeC Posted February 28, 2001 Newbies Posted February 28, 2001 Is there a way to create, or does anyone have an example of an inclusive error page for CDML errors. For example, right now I have created an error page for adding new records, and an error page for searching records. However, from my understanding there are many more errors that you can encounter, and FMP is not very forthcoming with information about those errors unless you tell it to look for an error page. If that error page had all possible errors, wouldn't that make it easier to troubleshoot problems? Thanks
Keith M. Davie Posted February 28, 2001 Posted February 28, 2001 Well an all-inclusive error page would be one that says "Oops" and has a nav. button to the home page. If you are looking for FileMaker error codes, look in FileMaker Help. I think it may be under something like Status[CurrentError], I printed out a copy so I don't go there. If you are trying to determine from your error page what errors you are encountering as a developer so that you can create pages which work the way you want, you might explore the use of the fmp-currenterror replacement tag on your error pages during development. Or you can remark your -error code line as a comment line (<!-- ... --> ) and the FMP error message will appear in a window. Peace Keith M. Davie
Vaughan Posted March 4, 2001 Posted March 4, 2001 Of all of the hundred or so possible errors, those likely to occur in a particluar action are few. In the case of a -new, the likely errors are 102 field missing 105 layout missing 500..509 validation errors 802 unable to open file A error page for -edit and -delete would include 101 record is missing 200 record access is denied 301 record is in use by another user A -find error page would have to include: 400 find criteria empty 401 no records match this request Some of these errors I've never seen but they are possible.
