Anyone know where I can get some examples of basic scripts or a good explanation to get someone started writing scripts?

Look in the FileMaker online help under "Creating scripts to automate tasks." Also take a look at the downloads area at FileMaker.com.

Unfortunately, you are in a void with v6. The best basic scripts book was "[color:blue]Scriptology: Filemaker Pro Demystified," it was written for version 3, but was a great resource. I just did a search for the title, and find that there are a few available on Amazon.com

Fitch has made a good suggestion.

I would also recommend you search for basic types of scripts you need in the Script Topic.
