djc728 Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I want to put a pop up or drop down box on my layout and I would like to attach a script to it. The problem is the script runs as soon as I click the box. I want the script to run after the user makes a choice from the box. Any way to accomplish this?
Inky Phil Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I am fairly certain that this cannot be done in 5 Phil
Lee Smith Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) Hi Phil, I think we need more information here. I read this as v8.5 question. As you know, there was no way to run a script when entering or exiting a field in v5 without a plugin. In fact, I'm wondering what plugin is being used in v8.5 to get the script to run upon entering the field? Lee p.s. Unless the button for the script is attached to the field. djc728 Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 I'm sorry I'm working in FM 8.5. I have a button setup script attached to the drop down but the issue the script runs as soon as you touch the drop down box. I really need the script to run after the user makes a choice in the box.
Lee Smith Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Ah, the p.s. You have a couple of choices. Use a plugin, there are a couple that you can choose from. I don't use plugins for this, I prefer the button to be separate from the field for the very reason you point out. I use a [color:blue]Go or a [color:blue]Doit button next to the field instead. HTH Lee
Inky Phil Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 OK then if you are using 8.5 then you can use a plugin called event script which can be downloaded foc at http://www.softs4humans.com/FMPro_Plugins.html There are others but this is the only one that I have experience of. hth Phil ps there are rumours that 9 will have this as a native feature
