Featured Replies

I just add a new column and want to insert value into this column. I want it to be auto insert by auto increment number.

How to do that?

I use filemaker pro 8.5

I just added new column into existing table which have huge records. Now I want to insert a numeric which is auto increment into the newly created column from first record till the last records. How to do that? I use FMPro8.5.

Show all records.

Go to the first record.

Put your cursor into the field that you want to hold the number.

From the 'records' pull down menu you will find a 'replace field contents' option.

there you will be able to replace the fields contents with an auto generated number - beware though - this is not undo-able. Make a back up first

Hi redcoder,

You are getting that message because I merged the two topics together. So it is pointing back to your previous thread that doesnt exist anymore.
