Newbies scm Posted July 5, 2007 Newbies Posted July 5, 2007 After installing the Filemaker Server and Sever Advance my Apache server does not start. Some assistance in solving this issue would be appreciated.
Vaughan Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I've never set up a FMS Advanced server, but from what I have read the instructions in the Install Guide have to be followed *to the letter* including when to reboot the computer.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Version of Apache? The correct version is 1.3, not 2. Steven
LelandLong Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I'm having the same frustration as you are! No web server . . . starting up message forever. Tried shutting down the server then tried again, nope. Tried re-installing FMPS9, nope. Went I went through the initial setup, the section asking about PHP, I chose to not instal FMPS's version but to keep my own, which is v5. Did you do the same? If you get it to work, please, clue me in...I'm losing hair!
LelandLong Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 (edited) Can't tell you exactly which configuration(s) this fix applies to or doesn't apply to, but have found a temporary solution at least for my miniMac MacOS 10.4.10. I can't take credit for this discovery, but I can't link you to the actual discovery either so I'll just post the pertinent info here: Locate the Tomcat config file 'mod_jk.conf' using Spotlight. Make a backup, save it somewhere to fall back on. Edit it (TextEdit works fine) and remove the line starting with: 'JkFmShmFile ...' Close & Save. Restart Personal Web Sharing and voila, it actually will now. I hear it will stop your FMP9server web services (CWP, PHP, IWP) but have not confirmed that. I was just happy to get my web server up and running again after it being down for almost 24hrs now...! - - - When I install a commercial product, made by the same people who make my machine & operating system (Apple-FileMaker), and then it buggers up a long-running operation that has given me virtually no headaches up 'til now, I have this higher-then-maybe-should-be expectation that it'll work just fine. Very frustrating to say the least. And since it was a developers version I didn't think I'd receive much pity from a customer service call. Now I'll wait to see if there is a more official fix to this before continuing my FMP9server install. Edited July 12, 2007 by Guest PS: the database server still works fine
fmpwnerer Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 This seems to be happening to a number of FileMaker users. FileMaker doesn't know what actually causes this issue yet, but it does seem that support has come up with a way to resolve it. I'd highly recommend contacting their technical support. Hopefully by receiving additional information about when this is happening, along with upping the number of reports they're getting, a resolution in either the form of a revision or official knowledge base article will be received quicker.
fmlawl Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I had this problem as well, I came to find out that we mistakenly removed the Web Publishing Engine incorrectly. Upon further investigation I discovered that my Apache configuration files have been trashed, so in a last ditch effort I attempted to copy the default configuration files to replace the old files. To do this I opened a Terminal window and typed, "sudo cp /etc/httpd/httpd.conf.default /etc/httpd/httpd.conf" without quotes, all one command. Thankfully this worked and I was able to get my server back up and running. I should of read the manuals and followed the procedure to uninstall properly, would of saved me a lot of time and money. :
