Script another browser besides safari?

Featured Replies

Hello

Not only does safari 3 beta crash filemaker but it also limits the way we see web content.

Is there a way to make sure filemaker on both mac and windows uses another browser like firefox or something else.

Thanks

Dave

You can change the default Browser in the Preference for Safari. I just check FireFox, and you select it to be the default Browser, which should also change the Browser Setting.

I doubt that this can be done with a script. Also, if I'm your user, I would shoot you if you changed my browser default.

But hey, that's just me. Don't mess with my stuff.

AFAIK, Filemaker will always use Safari (Mac) and IE (Win), no matter what you do.

I think you're right. I can't get it to do any other. That should be changed. There are many things that don't work in safari. Including filemaker 9 with safari 3 beta.

I don't think it will change. From the very little I know, each OS provides an easy way for a programmer to instantiate the BUILT-IN browser within an application. To do this with a third-party browser would be something else, and to accommodate any browser selected by the user would be a nightmare, I think. Not to mention copyright issues.

I don't know what are the "many things that don't work in safari". Certainly you shouldn't complain about beta software.
