MelJ Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I have a portal that I would like to operate just like can be done in script maker. I would like to have small up and down arrows left of each portal line and be able to grab the arrow and move the line up or down to reposition it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've written a script that lets the user click on a line then move it by clicking on another line which works fine but being able to drag the lines would be much easier and more professional. Thanks, Mel
Ender Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 There is no such drag and drop functionality for portals. You might do something where a row is reordered based on one click to select a row, and a second (or alt-click) to insert it above another row. Maybe that's what you already have.
MelJ Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 You're correct. That's exactly what I have now. Thanks for the reply. You saved me allot of time looking for something that doesn't exist. Mel
Fenton Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 If you want to see (and drool) over a high-end plug-in solution (using Flash), watch this free video: http://www.filemakermagazine.com/videos/automating-html-forms-using-mbs-plugin.html I've not tried it, so couldn't help, and I'm certain it would be a fair amount of work. But in the week views of a calendar he is moving blocks of what would be simple data shown in portals in FileMaker.
fabriceN Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Here is something about permutation, that requires EventScript free plug-in. HTH PortalRowPermutationWithScript.fp7.zip
Søren Dyhr Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I would like to have small up and down arrows left of each portal line and be able to grab the arrow and move the line up or down to reposition it Well I have seen an old fm3 or fm5 template doing exactly this, without any plugin ... it doesn't seem like the most difficult algorithm, known to mankind! With GetNth... and $variables is it even easier... but I have to other matters now - I'll give it a stab tomorrow, unless someone else have it up their sleves?? --sd
Lee Smith Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 There a couple of file on Database Pros site that might be what you are talking about. Link then do a search for Move Portal. HTH Lee
