Hello all,

I need to add a second autoenter serial number to an existing database.

The field will be Barcode and is auto enter serial starting at *1000000* incrementing by one.

There are 700+ records that need this field added. I am sure it is a loop function but as usual I am lost as to how to write the script.

Hi Fred,

You don't need to script this. It will only take a minute or two to do manually.

Create your new field

Create a found set of the records that need the data adding to them.

Go to the first of these records

Go to a layout that has the new field on it.

Select the record drop down menu and you will see 'replace field contents'. There you will be able to number all of your found set starting fom 10000 (or whatever)

That did the trick. That will tech me to look at all the options in the drop down menus.
