MelJ Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I'm sure many others have thought this but I just wanted to get it off of my chest. Has anyone noticed that FileMaker missed one small but VERY VALUABLE step with he conditional formatting? FILL PATTERN! Had they added this one extra step the "hiding buttons" problem would be a thing of the past. You could load your layout up with buttons and show and hide the ones you want when you want. If anyone has an "IN" with FileMaker, maybe you could drop a note in the suggestion box. Thanks, Mel
Heathbo Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 You forgot stroke. It would also be nice if conditional formating could change effect and stroke on a button.
LaRetta Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Well, you can do the opposite - show the button only when you want to run the script. Type something into text1 field then exit it. Fill isn't really a problem but Effects would be nice - like line width, embossed, etc. Because with Effects, you can make it show or hide but NEVER make it look like a button (that wasn't there before); you can't conditional format lines by themselves. Regardless, the button would still be active. It would make more sense to hide it within a tab or a broken portal so it couldn't be accidently fired. Stroke on a button? Like flash? Not on your life. Nothing is more irritating... showHideButtons.zip
El_Pablo Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Sorry to revive this post, but we are now at version 10 and this feature is still missing! I wanted to hide a portal with a condition formatted label, but oops! No fill pattern formatting! We only have partial conditionnal formatting! C'mon FMI, what is wrong with you? It's awkward to create an empty tab to hide a portal.
