Dual portals

Featured Replies

I'm a newbie trying to duplicate a MS Access database. I have a Company layout with the usual fields and at the bottom a row of four tabs (Contact History, Contact Names, Ticklers, Quotes) related to the current Company.

I have two portals on the Quotes tab, Quote Header and Quote Detail. One Header field relates to a Company field (both company name) and the Header field Number relates to the Detail field Number.

Problem is that all the Detail records for the Company show up in the Detail portal. I want to show only Detail records for the current/active Header record.

I don't know how to make that happen -- any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand why you the Header fields in a portal. Shouldn't there be only one header per quote?

Correct. There is only one header per quote but a customer may have multiple quotes. I want the detail items for only the current/active quote header to show in the detail portal. Now, detail lines for all quotes for the current customer show in the detail portal.

Will another occurrence of the Header table with a relationship between the quote number fields in both tables make this work?

Currently, there is a relationship between the Company name fields in the company table and the header table and a relationship between the quote number fields in the header and detail tables.
