Fax Layout From FileMaker

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard of a solution or plugin that would fax a layout through a fax modem from FileMaker. I'd like to be able to fax orders directly from my solution.

Thanks,

Mel

I may be mistaken but are not most faxing software just basically the same as printing? You just choose the fax driver when you print?

Michael

Edit: Such as this software. It has a free trial, prob worth a look. Found that with a google search, so I'm sure there are tons more.

Doesn't Windows have built-in fax capability?

Thanks for the reply and I'm aware of the software you are speaking of. When using the printer driver the printers dialog pops up then you select the fax number to send to etc. etc.

What I am looking for is something I could send the number to via scipt parameter or variable. Then have the software return a transimition report (succeeded for failed).

In other words, something a little more automated than having the user manually go through the printer driver.

Thanks,

Mel

Yeah I never used it though. Email is so much easier. I mean who in the world at this point doesn't have email?

Ahh ok I understand now. I'm not aware of anything like that. :

Mel,

It just dawned on me that you may still be able to do this with Filemaker. Here at work we have Shoretel VOIP. I have a script that in short is

Dial Phone [No dialog;Dealer::Phone]

It does pass the number to the Shoretel Software(provided it's installed on that machine, if not it uses the internal modem) and dials the phone number for the person. Im not sure how it truly knows to pass the number, I just know it works. It may be worth a shot if you have not tried it already.

There are several plugins for faxing out of FMP, but I haven't used any of them, so I cannot say if they will do what you want.

Another option would be to use a e-mail-to-fax service.
