Im not sure where to categorize this question or even how to word it but I will try...

When I go to do a search.. and I am in table view... I generally enter the date I want to search for in the field I want to search for it in then I hit enter onc and my search is performed. However some fields, if I try to search by them, and enter the info i want to search for and then hit the enter button, rather than performing my search instantly I ended up tabbed over to the next field. In some cases I have to hit the enter button 4 times, which tabs me through 4 different fields before my search is finally performed. Ive lived with this for a while but now its just gotten the best of me and i am desperately trying to figure out why it happens and how I can stop it from tabbing over to the next fields.

So far all I have known to try is to go to edit my tab order and that didnt do anything.

please help me?

Thank you, Jared

Your question fits into the Topic Area you picked.

Don't be overly concern about placement of your question, if you pick an area that that seems to meet the sprit of your question, you probably have made a good choice. When in doubt, read the short description by each Topic Heading. Often there are more than one Function of Feature involved in a question, it probably doesn't matter which one you select, but just pick one (i.e. do not multiple post). If you miss it by a mile, we can, and do move them to a better fit.

It is normal for the Tab to move you from one field to the next, so I'm confused what you are asking here. With the Skill level of intermediate, I would expect that you already know this. However, if not than the place to start is looking at the tab order for the layout.

If this doesn't answer your question, please let me know.

In Layout mode, select a field that's giving you trouble and from the Format drop down, select Field/Control-->Behavior. You have options there for moving to the next object in the tab order (ie the field is set to "tab" using the "enter" key).
