I've had this same problem with v8.5 and v9 on both XP and Vista clients.

I first spotted it when I converted a file from v6 (where everything worked as expected) to v8 (where it produced the 'Manhattan Skyline' effect you show).

I'm afraid I have found no solution, other than to stagger the fields slightly, so that they are not aligned horizontally. This sliding then worked, more or less, but it still showed the first empty repitition as a fine double line. In the end I disguised the double line effect by making it look like part of the layout design, adding double lines elsewhere in the layout. Not ideal!

Last night I came across the problem again, in a new layout, using non-repeating calc fields. The common factor is that the calc fields are all showing return-separated lists, rather like repeating fields.

If you find a solution, please let me know!

Has anyone figured out why a calculation/repeating field causes this skyline effect? I have a calculation in a repeating field set to slide and if there is no data in the column I get the inverse skyline as shown in the pic above. Thanks.

I am having his issue as well, on OSX. I want the rows to slide down to the smallest they can be based on the text in the box, but to keep all cells in that ROW the same size as the largest cell can slide down to.

But each individual cell in the row slides down to ITS OWN minimum, instead of the rows maximum minimum.

Can anyone help?

Here is a better representation of what is happening.

Slideprinting-01.jpg shows what I get when i turn on sliding.

Slideprinting-02.jpg shows how I want it to look when you turn on sliding.

I want all the fields in the current row to scale down uniformly to be the smallest they can be. Is that possible?

Fred
