Change a Form's Background Color?

Featured Replies

Hello.

I'm new to Filemaker and am using version 9.

A quick question: Is it possible to change the background color of a form?

I figured out how to change the field box colors. I also created check boxes, radio buttons, and a drop down menu, and figured out how to change their colors.

Is this possible? I went into Layout Setup and looked around, and saw there are various layout designs with various colors, but I just want the body to be light yellow, without having to create a new layout.

Thank you!

Jd

In layout mode, click on the Body part label and choose a fill.

That was too easy. Thank you.

Yeah, you would think - after all this time of this feature being undocumented - that FileMaker would finally add it to Help. It has stumped thousands.

I wonder how many combined person-hours have been wasted hunting for something which should have been so simple and COULD be so simply added into the current version ... :crazy2:

Forgive me ... I can be nitpicky sometimes.

OMG! I stand corrected!! They finally have!!

To apply a color or pattern to a layout part, click the part label, then, in the status area, choose from the fill color palette, fill pattern palette, or both.

My apologies FileMaker!

If I may make a comment...I'm new to Filemaker, but I'm not new to computing. Far from it.

But I also like documentation that I can understand.

Finding that is a rarity.

If it weren't for web boards such as this, and Usenet newsgroups, I probably would still be searching for ways to do things I started a decade ago...or more.

Filemaker is the simplest database program I've found since Lotus Approach. I'm by no means whatsoever a database expert--I've never made a relational database and am strictly flat file--but Filemaker didn't totally stump me when I tried to figure out how to make check boxes and radio buttons.

Where did you find that, if I may ask?

I agree completely, jd. And where are my manners?! Welcome to FM Forums! This is the best place for FileMaker information - without question. Again, welcome. :smile2:

FM Help. Type layout color. Then second item "setting color, pattern, lines ..."

Item #2 down in notes, third bullet.

I never would have found it on my own. I would have been searching for background color, background color, background color. Thanks again. Jd

Click on Body button which can be seen in the very left side of the form. After clicking you will find FillColor option, using this option you can easily change the background color of the form.
