I want to offer a goto button, where the user can type in an item number, filmaker will bring it up, but will still show all records, so the user can use the previous and next record buttons as well. I have used the 'go to related record' function, but i have a problem - i have an item 22717 and an item 227178 - if I type '22717', filemaker shows 227178... anything I can do?

This should be compatible for FM7

script the process with a padded ID field then when you type in 22717 it will change it to 0000022717 and go to related record or "find" based upon the padded version.

thanks - but you have to excuse my ignorance - where and how would I pad the number and would this be affected by the fact that I also have item nr. that contain letters?
